Mad City Sue – Round II
March 25, 2007 at 8:48 pm | Posted in E-tailers, Mad City Sue | Leave a commentI couldn’t help myself. Ordered 4 2oz samples for $10. Came super fast and Sue was again, efficient with her CS. This time, I got 3 sugar scrubs (mostly to try out scent) and a soy souffle.
Mint Angel Sugar Scrub
Still waiting for it to cure but smells pepperminty chocolatey. Think this will get a lot stronger in the week to come.
Frosted Pink Cupcake Sugar Scrub
Gorgeous delectable scent. This is the kind you just want to eat up.
Cotton Candy Twist Sugar Scrub
Slightly disappointed with this one. Smells kind of plasticky. Maybe it’ll change once I’ve let it cure for a bit longer… but I’ve heard many girls with a similar complaint.
Nectarine Blossom & Honey Soy Souffle
Very very thick! Have to work to sink it in but the scent lingers forever. Haven’t smelt the original Jo Malone fragrance but I think this is perfect citrus smell.
Julphia Soapworks
March 25, 2007 at 8:40 pm | Posted in E-tailers, Julphia Soapworks | Leave a commentIncredibly fast TAT. Came really quick, reasonably priced. And my god, Megan outdoes herselves with the samples! I was quite tempted to order a Mint Angel soap but didn’t in the end and went with 2 scrubs, but she included it in the order COMPLETELY free! I also got using a code, a free Silk Powder Cream along with other lotion samples. Definitely recommended for the samples, amazing CS and all round flexibility of Megan! Julphia Soapworks
Whipped Sugar Scrub in Violet Chiffon Cake
Very nice texture. Not too oily but scrubby at the same time. Granules dissolved easily. Unfortunately, just didn’t really like this scent… It just sounded so yum I had to try it out!
Whipped Sugar Scrub in Serendipity
Mmm delish scent. Not too foody. Just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect.
Silk Powder Creme in Bacci di Miele
I have some issues with this one even though it was free. Bacci di Miele was supposed to smell of honey but just smelt like johnsons & johnsons baby powder to me! Also had some powder residue from the powder creme after it had sunk in. Not sure if that was just me?
Mint Angel Soap
It smells delish but will have to see how the soap works out. So far looks and feels like it would be very moisturising!

My new favourite e-tailer is Mad City Sue. Sue is soo amazingly nice. Her turnaround time is fast, and her shipping is even quicker. She’s fair, doesn’t overcharge on shipping and is honest. In fact, after shipping one of my orders, she realised she charged me $3 more so she refunded me via paypal! Not a lot of e-tailers would do that. She really listens to what you want and takes custom orders. Currently, 4 2oz samples are $10 and additions are $2.50 each.
Whipped Sugar Scrub in Red Velvet Cake
At first sniff it was super cakey and sugary. But I’m a gourmand lover so I fell in love instantly. Texture of the scrub is very creamy and moisturising. Can hardly feel the granules but I don’t mind that. Leaves your skin super soft so you don’t need to moisturise afterwards. But if you like your scrubs more scrubby and exofoliating, then you this scrub isn’t for you. I personally love it. Can feel oily in the shower, even after rinsing heavily, you may still feel oily but once you’ve dried off its all baby bottom smooth!
One Flock Primitive Tarts
March 15, 2007 at 10:05 pm | Posted in E-tailers, One of the Flock Primitives | Leave a comment
I heard great things about One of the Flock Primitives so I thought I’d give it a go. Suzie was very nice and her CS was quite fast although not as quick as some other places I’ve ordered from. From shipping time, the tarts came quickly but she took awhile to make them. The standard tarts are 75c each – very reasonable! The tarts were bigger than I thought and smelt amazing on a cold sniff. The throw is incredible and I’d definitely order again!
Banana Nut Bread
I burnt this for about 12 hours. For about 8hrs it smelt more like caramel popcorn and it wasn’t until I got towards the end of its scent life did I begin to sense some nutty and banana bits. Still nice and I’d still order it again!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Very very true scent. Everytime I entered the room I wanted to eat something sweet. Mmm, gorgeous! Not overly sickly sweet, just right. Also kind of reminds me of Cookies n Cream ice cream.
The Primitive Tart Shop
March 2, 2007 at 1:39 pm | Posted in The Primitive Tart Shop | Leave a commentThe Primitive Tart Shop have really unique scents – Banana Caramel Drizzle anyone? It’s cheap – USD 60c per individual wax tart – and the customer service is great. When it arrived, I was a bit skeptical at first. The tarts were packaged in small cellophane bags but they weren’t tightly wrapped so in the post, they had started to crumble at the sides. That’s just me being nit picky about packaging though!
The tart scents were on/off – some were great, some not so, so I guess it just depends on personal taste. Not bad if you don’t have a lot to spend.
Bazooka Bubble Gum
On a cold sniff, smelt just like the real thing! And smelt even better when melted. Very strong bubble gum scent but after the first few hours of melting, it starts to develop a sweet sugary pink scent which I just loved!
Cotton Candy
Didn’t smell like cotton candy at all and had weak throw. Smelt sweet but not sure what it was supposed to be.
Froot Loop
Supposed to smell like the cereal when you open the box but I think this smelt a little more like laundry detergent than the actual cereal. Not a very sweet smell.. more like toxic.
Frost Bite
I’m guessing this is also like Jack Frost. Medium throw. Took time getting used to but once settled smelt amazing. Very refreshing without being overpowering. It’s easy with a peppermint scent to be too strong but this was perfect. Would definitely order this again!
Sugar Milk
Medium throw but I love the scent. Smelt very much like condensed milk that’s been heated up. Or like sweet bread baking. One of my favourite’s from her shop. Only order this if you like sweet scents.
Nessa’s Sweet Scents
March 2, 2007 at 12:46 pm | Posted in Nessa's Sweet Scents | Leave a commentNessa’s Sweet Scents has extremely quick turnaround time and Vera, the woman who runs it, is an absolute sweetheart. She answers emails quick and her tarts are packaged well in cellophane. Individual 1oz tarts are USD 75c which is incredibly reasonable considering some places charge up to $1.20 per tart.
TAT is extremely quick. Intl shipping was a week so I’m pretty sure it’s less than half that if you’re in the states. Overall, I would absolutely recommend her for tart beginners.
Butt Naked
The throw on this is incredible and I must have burnt it for about 15 hours altogether. Fruity and refreshing without being overwhelming. This is the perfect scent for citrus lovers.
Love Spell
Love Spell is my favourite all-time scent in general so I’m very picky about it. I thought it was very mild scent. I wish the fragrance was stronger in it, otherwise a pretty good dupe.
Lick Me All Over
On the site this is listed under the fruit fragrances but for me, I think this was a little heavier on the floral side which my nose didn’t like. VERY strong throw though. Filled up the whole room after about a minute of melting. Very very strong. I just wish I could have smelt the tropical more.
Sugar Mint Cookie
Unfortunately, this wasn’t for me. My nose had an instant aversion to this scent even before I started burning it. It smelt more like minty milk and had a sickly touch to it. I’m probably being too harsh but I thought I’d give it a chance in the burner. I had to fish it out before it completely finished melting as I couldn’t stand it.
